Look for chocolate products with these logos on them
Fairtrade standards prohibit forced labour, child labour, and discrimination. If child labour is detected in a supply chain, Fairtrade immediatelyenacts its child protection policy and implements remediation efforst.
UTZ and Rainforest Alliance have merged. Their standards prohibit the use of forced labour, child labour, and discrimination. Farmers have the right to organise.
Cocoa Horizons is Barry Callebaut's scheme for improving farmer yields and well-being. They have a public aim to end child labour in their supply chains. It is used by Darrell Lea, Kmart, Target and David Jones own branded products.
Cocoa Life (Mondelez - Cadbury) This is Mondelez certification plus program. Mondelez still uses Flocert(Fairtrade's standard and auditing scheme) and adds five pillars of communnity development and prevention of child labout.
Ferrero uses certified cocoa but does not add any logos on their products.
Cocoa Plan (Nestle) uses the Rainforest Alliance/UTZ certification labels together with their own Cocoa Plan Logo. This has a robust scheme for child labour monitoring and remediation. They also have a focus on school education for children.
Mars uses mainly Rainforest Alliance certification program and has launched their Sustainable in a Generation Plan, focussing on certification, child labour, schools and better wellbeing for Cocoa Farmers and their incomes.
Cocoa Farming Program, is Lindt's program where they have 'bean to bar' traceability and on the ground staff to monitor for child labour. This program is independently verified by the Forrest Trust and they source almost all of their cocoa from Ghana.
